Integrated Pest Management
The Four Seasons Approach

Integrated Pest Management is not a single pest control method but, rather, a series of pest management evaluations, decisions and controls. Here at On The Fly, we have created a proactive IPM program that addresses the changes in pest behaviour from season to season. Instead of repeatedly applying the same materials, On The Fly's program uses a series of high quality, environmentally conscious materials, which minimizes insect resistance over time. Our Four Seasons Approach guarantees that your house will remain pest-free! Should there ever be a problem with any of our service we will continue to service your home in between quarterly visits, at no extra charge, until you are 100% satisfied.

Spring

Spring is the time when insects strive to increase their populations so On The Fly is focused on material application that reduces reproduction. The treatment focuses on the exterior of the structure where insects live and breed, plus entry points into the living space. The technician takes a proactive posture against insect invasion by using a material that works to eliminate the colony and establishes long-term protection to stop the insect invasion.

During your Spring quarterly service, On The Fly will:

  • Perform an exterior inspection looking for any brush or growth touching the house, seasonal damage from the rough weather, and any sort of insect activity
  • Treat exterior hot spots, potential harborage sites, and food sources
  • Treat exterior entry points including, but not limited to, utility boxes and around doors and windows
  • Apply granular baits along the foundation and in landscape features
  • Treat for ant larvae and workers, crickets, and roaches
  • Treat to suppress ant reproduction
  • Place and/or check insect monitoring stations as needed
  • Remove spider webs
Summer

Increased insect populations eat voraciously during the summer. Why do we see more of them in the warm weather? Because insects are cold-blooded, which means that the temperature of their environment regulates their body temperatures. In cold weather, insects' internal temperatures drop, causing them to slow down. But in warm weather, they become more active. Larvae grow at a faster rate, reproduction cycles speed up, and they move faster. Summer treatment focuses on eliminating insect colonies and flushing out food and nesting sights.

During your Summer quarterly service, On The Fly will:

  • Perform an inspection of the home and premises looking for stinging insect activity, nests, and mosquito breeding sights
  • Offer guidance to customer on how to decrease mosquito population
  • Treat exterior entry points and hot spots
  • Apply granular baits to minimize insect reproduction
  • Place and/or check insect monitoring stations as needed
  • Remove spider webs
Fall
Young insects are maturing and all pests are building up their reserves for the winter and are actively seeking harborage. Because they are slowing down, insects are more vulnerable to predation. Your home is a desirable retreat. To repel them, On The Fly will establish a barrier around the home by applying materials in pathways that insects will use to access the structure and caulking small entry points such as those found around window frames and utility boxes. It's also the time of year for rodents to find shelter indoors for the winter. Since mice can gain entry through a hole the size of a dime, On The Fly will pay careful attention to sealing up entryways into your home to ensure that your house stays rodent-free.

During your Fall quarterly service, On The Fly will:

  • Perform exterior inspection of home looking for any stinging insect activity and signs of animal nesting
  • Treat exterior hot spots, potential harborage sites, and food sources
  • Apply dust treatment to exterior entry points including, but not limited to, utility boxes and widow crevices
  • Caulk and seal cracks and crevices where insects and rodents may gain entry in the winter
  • Spread granules in thick grass, mulch, rock beds, decorative bark, and similar areas
  • Place and/or check insect monitoring stations as needed
  • Remove spider webs
Winter
During the winter, insects hide and reserve energy so they can increase their chances of surviving until Spring. Because your home is an ideal insect retreat, On The Fly's focus is eradicating insects that are taking refuge inside the house. An exterior inspection is always performed as well to ensure that all potential entryways remain sealed.

During your Winter quarterly service, On The Fly will:

  • Perform exterior inspection looking for any signs of rodent entry
  • Inspect accessible attic and/or crawl spaces for any signs of animals and/or rodents
  • Inspect mice hot spots looking for any signs of activity and nesting - basements, utility rooms, garages, kitchens, and bathrooms
  • Bait for silverfish and centipedes as needed
  • Place and/or check insect monitoring stations as needed
  • Remove spider webs
